Who was it that spawned the myth that "entrepreneurship" appears only in the admissions SoP of B-school students? There are quite a few with the undying spirit of pursuing their dreams until they step into the realm of existence; those, who are ready to go the whole hog to do precisely what they set out to do.

And what better venue is there to put one's plans to a stress test than one of the most fiercely competitive B-fests of the country?

BzzWings is the open theme B-plan contest at Vista. Eight teams will be short listed for the final round, and they will be allotted mentors from our Knowledge Partners to assist them in their preparations. We just thought it would be better to enable participants to refine thoughts before the event, rather than in hindsight.

And it's not just money that's at stake; in addition, NSRCEL (Nadathur S Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning) would offer incubation to the winner, and direct entry to the second round of the 2-tier incubation selection process to the runners-up.

So, for the entrepreneurially inclined, this is a solid chance to really get going on that dream project that's been in the works for a while.

Format

The event will be held in three phases:

Phase I: Participants are required to email a soft copy of their executive summary before September 25, 2008. The results of this round would be announced by September 28, 2008.

Phase II: 8 teams would be selected from phase I. At this stage the teams will be provided access to a mentor. The mentors will be entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and/or consultants who have considerable experience with business plans. The mentors will help the teams through the process of fine-tuning the business plan. These teams will have to submit the final business plan by October 9, 2008.

Phase III: The 8 teams will have to present their business plan during VISTA at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (October 10-12, 2008). The panel of judges will consist of eminent venture capital and private equity investors and successful entrepreneurs.
